DESIGNERS GO GAGA FOR GAGA

I was flipping through Harper's Bazaar and saw a piece on Lady Gaga. I was shocked at the impact the pop star is having on the runway. Designers are turning to her for inspiration. Check out Shakira's video for "Give It Up To Me" featuring Lil Wayne. Very Timberland-ish. I was craving something more in the vibe of "Hips Don't Lie." Do you like this song? Odd paring of Shakira & Lil Wayne also.

Alicia Keys dropped her video for "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart." She's superwoman with the powers to heal the sick. Interesting. Not sure what that has to do with sleeping with a broken heart? Can she heal others but not her own broken heart?

How did I say this nicely? Beyonce looks a like a street walker in this highly anticipated video for "Video Phone" featuring Lady Gaga (who is everywhere right now). I wasn't a big fan of this song in the first place. I'm a bit tired of the highly sexualized Black woman stereotype. Sorry I just took it to another place but really. Cut it out with the stripper moves, put some clothes on and sing a ballad. Sorry Stans! Also Hype parts of it remind me of "Gold Digger."

Out of all the clips, my favorite is a sneak peek at Janet's video for "Make Me." I'm super excited for her interview tomorrow with Robin Roberts. Definitely going to pick up Number Ones today. Sometimes less is more. Young divas pay attention.

JANET @ THE GROVE...

Janet made an appearance at The Grove yesterday to check out Flash Mob's performance. The fans danced to "Rhythm Nation" and "Miss You Much" as the pop star watched from a balcony above. Very cool! Again Janet looks great. Look out for her greatest hits album Number Ones dropping on Tuesday (11/17).

ACROSS THE POND... JLS

There's so much buzz around British boy band JLS. I kept telling myself to check them out and finally friend to the blog, Trend Setter, sent me their single. The pop group is topping the UK charts with their hit single "Everybody In Love." I kinda like this song. It's growing on me. What do you think of JLS? Cheesy or cute? I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they bring their act to American soil. Do you think JLS could find success in the states or has the boy band phase been phased out completely?

DJ AM'S SNEAKER COLLECTION... KICKS FOR A CAUSE

The late DJ AM had a serious sneaker fetish. His crazy collection (over 800 pairs) is up for auction on eBay and all the proceeds will benefit organizations that help with substance addiction and recovery. Great that his sneakers are going to fund programs that assist those struggling with addiction, something AM battled with himself. Love the Air Max 95's that he is holding up in the picture, my favorite sneaker of all time. Surely there will be some rare and hard to find kicks up for grabs on eBay. The auction starts on Sunday. SLEPT ON... LETOYA LUCKETT

LeToya Luckett dropped one of the best R&B albums to come out this year. If you don't have Lady Love definitely pick it up or download it (legally). A shame that Capitol isn't giving her project the marketing and promo support it needs. Not totally surprising since the labels are known for effin' up artists' albums. Anyway, you can check out the video for her latest single "Regret". I posted this song awhile back, still love it.

JANET OPENS UP...

I'm excited about this Janet interview with Robin Roberts. Janet is so private that it's always intriguing to me when she opens up. I'm sure she'll discuss her grief over her brother's death and the new album she's in the studio recording with Rodney Jerkins. Where is that book the pop star was supposed to be writing about her struggle with weight loss?!? That's what I'm waiting to read. Surely her book would shoot straight up the best sellers list. I digress. The Janet special airs next Wednesday. Check out the promo spot below. She looks great! Janet must have found the fountain of youth.
